The Euryalus castle is located few miles from Syracuse, near the village Belvedere. It's one of the most important ancient fortresses of Greek age. It was built by the tyrant Dionysius together with the town walls to defend Syracuse and the Epipolis plateau. Inside the castle it's possible to see the ancient moats, the ruins of the towers for the catapults, the impressive tunnels built to move the hoplytes inside the castle. From the Euryalus castle it's also possible to enjoy a great panorama over Syracuse and it's bay and it is possible to visit the small museum with some archaeological finds.
